Students will receive an overview of the history of Japanese flower arranging, and learn the differences between Western flower arranging and Ikebana. They also will explore the two basic styles of moribana (low container) arrangements. The instructor will assist students in creating several style variations. A comprehensive handout and all floral materials are included. Containers and pin-holders will be provided for use in the class.
Students should bring floral scissors, a notebook, camera (optional), snack or lunch, and a sweater.

Deborah Warriner is president of the Ichiyo School of Ikebana, San Diego Chapter. She holds the rank of Master and has been teaching and demonstrating Ichiyo Ikebana for more than 20 years.
This class will introduce students to the mechanics of their camera, as well as help them see light and learn how to control it for better images. Compositional rules and the effective use of line and contrast will also be covered. The class will be divided into three basic parts:
